Details

The following Building shall be added:- ICKNIELD PORT ROAD SP 08 NW Stables at Rotton Park 997-0/6/54 Loop Canal Maintenance Yard II GV Stables on canal maintenance yard. Circa 1860. Flemish stretcher bond red and blue brick. Slate roof with gabled ends. Stack truncated. 2-room plan, stables on left (east) and grooms' room on right (west). Single storey 2-window north front. Doorway to right of centre with segmental arch and plank door. Small 3-pane cast-iron window to left of doorway with segmental arch. Larger multi-pane cast-iron window on right with intersecting glazing bars in 2-centred arch and central opening casement. Similar window in west gable end. Small segmental arch window high up in east gable end. Interior: Grooms' room has small corner fireplace with cast-iron grate.

Note: Rotton Park Loop was originally part of James Brindley's 1768 Birmingham Canal, improved by Thomas Telford in circa 1827.
