GV II
Public House dating from 1642 with mid C18 addition to south of 2 cells which fronts the road and forms the main entrance. This is of 2 storeys and has thin coursed hammer dressed stone, stone slate roof and 2 bays of flat faced mullioned windows of 6 lights and 4 lights with same over to 1st floor. Doorway to left hand end with monolithic jambs. Central stack to ridge. The later cottages attached to either end are excluded from the item. The earliest part of the building is formed by 2 parallel ranges at the rear which except for the windows is rendered. 2 storeys with stone slate roof. The eastern wing has 6- light double chamfered mullioned window with hoodmould to former parlour and 6- light chamfered mullioned window over to 1st floor. Right hand return wall has coped gable with contemporary stack and 2-light chamfered mullioned window (blocked) with hoodmould with straight return and same over to 1st floor. Western wing breaks forward and has 2-light chamfered mullioned window partly obscured by flat roofed single storey extension (late C20). Gable has large extruded stack to former kitchen.
Interior: Rear kitchen has basket arched fireplace with chamfered surround and well preserved bee-hive oven. Eastern wing has basket arched fireplace with cyma moulded surround with sunken spandrels (the lintel dated 1642 set within a tressure) to heat former parlour. Most ceilings have chamfered spine beams with stop chamfered floor joists.
