2. Timber-framed building; possibly C15 in origin. 2-storeys. 4 bays. Timber-framing with modern brick infilling on 1st floor; modern projection on ground floor with carriage entrance through building in easternmost bay. On 1st floor, 4 sash windows 4 panes wide. Modern public house front of brick on ground floor. Modern wing behind. Inside, large room on 1st floor facing Corn Market which comprises roughly 3/4 of whole width of front; lit by 3 sash windows. Massive timbers visible along length of wall and framing ceiling; lower part of roof thus ceiled over. At west end of room large chimney breast with fine small Tudor fireplace. Moulded 4-centred arch with stopped chamfers; decorated spandrels. 2 small rooms in back and front of older range over carriageway in easternmost bay; timber-framing also visible here. Beams exposed in ceiling of carriageway, and panels of timber-framing exposed in east wall.

All the listed buildings in Corn Market and Market Place form a group.
