Mansion,late C17, rebuilt 1817 and altered 1974. Red brick in English
garden wall bond with slate roof. 2 storeys and attic, 5 bays,
gabled. Stone plinth, flush stone quoins. Ovolo moulded stone door
opening with stepped label surmounted by stone tablet with the crest
of the Booth Family. The opening contains a replaced 4-panel oak
door. Replaced recessed sashes with glazing bars, stone sills and
flat arches at all levels. Three gables with replaced bargeboards and
finials. Much gable brickwork was replaced in the 1974 alterations.
Interior: Substantially altered during the 1974 alterations. The
Entrance Hall has a square open ceiling well surrounded by Jacobean
style balusters through which a brass chandelier hangs from the first
floor ceiling. There is a matching staircase at the rear (south) with
twisted balusters, moulded handrail and rectangular panelling to
newels and strings. Carved C18 mantels in Drawing and Sitting Rooms.
The original six-panel doors have been replaced by C20 oak 4-panel
doors.
