7/47 The Old Vicarage
G.V. II
Vicarage, now house. Early C18 with later C19 and C20 alterations. Designed by and built for Sir Thomas Parkyns of Bunny Hall. Red brick, some ashlar. Slate roof. 2 gable and single ridge red brick stacks. Dentil eaves. Set on a plinth. First floor band broken by the openings. Two and a half storeys, 4 bays. Serliana doorway now part blocked with single 2 light casement, blind fanlight and keystone over. Either side are single glazing bar marginal lights. To the right is a single small fixed light and further right and left are single tripartite cross casements with flush wedge lintels and keystones. 3 similar windows and lintels above. On the top floor are 3 tripartite casements with similar lintels. The right gable wall has on the ground floor a single early C18 2 light ashlar mullion fixed light with the remains of a single similar opening in the left gable wall, first floor. Sir Thomas Parkyns Bart. (c.1662-1741) carried out improvements to and rebuilt almost all of Bunny to his own designs.
