BRIDGE STREET 1. 1594 (South Side) Nos 3 to 7 (odd) (The County Hotel) SU 1429 NW 3/390 GV II 2. (No 3 is shop extending into ground floor of Barclays Bank). Long irregular ashlar front in 2 parts. The eastern section circa 1908 Tudor. 2 storeyed asymmetrical elevation. Main entrance in slightly projecting gabled bay. Smaller stone faced gable over 1st floor window to right. 5 stone mullioned leaded casements on 1st floor. Ground floor has plate glass shop window to left (No 3). Large moulded basket handle arch to hotel entrance, cantilevered hood. To right a large 4 light and a 3 light casement. Door to right with depressed arch. 3 small stone mullioned lights set above with small stone pediment over. The western and main part of the hotel is somewhat earlier in date circa 1880-90, more elaborate Tudor-Jacobean treatment. Asymmetrical 2 storeyed elevation, return front to west. Moulded string between storeys and plinth. Gable end tiled roof. Stone faced gabled dormers with finials above eaves. Ashlar chimneys carried down into 1st floor and projecting on stepped corbels, moulded shafts and caps. 2 and 4 light stone mullioned, transomed windows with octagonal leaded panes on 1st floor. Ground floor, large wood mullioned windows in basket arches. Door under elaborate crocketed ogee arch. The return front has similar irregular fenestration and a slightly taller projecting bay on 1st floor with large flattened oriel of 7 lights stone mullions and transom, octagonal leaded panes, balustraded parapet. 4 centred arched entrance below with carved spandrels and drip mould.
Barclays Bank and Nos 3 to 7 (odd) form a group.
