House. Mid C17. Altered early C19. Brick, coursed rubble and timber framing. Rendered and colourwashed. Gabled slate roofs. Rubble and rendered plinths. Coped gables. 1 gable and 1 ridge stacks. 2 storeys, plus attics, 3 bays. Baffle entry plan with cross wing. Windows are mainly mid C19 and late C20 casements. Main south front has to left, hipped porch with C20 door and overlight. To right, canted bay window, mid C19, flanked to left by a casement, and to right by a leaded casement. Above, 3 casements and smaller casement to right. Return angle to right has a casement. West gable has to right, glazing bar sash. Above, to left, and above again to right, single casements. East gable has irregular C19 and late C20 fenestration. Rear elevation has gabled wing to left, with mid C19 brick lean-to addition with plain tile roof. To right, gabled stair turret, flanked by mid C20 flat roofed additions. 3 C20 casements on each floor. Interior has at east end substantial remains of stud wall carried on chamfered bressummers and inserted post. Timber mullioned window with timber lintel. C17 dogleg stair with intermediate landings. Square newels. Moulded handrail and remains of intermediate rail. Early C19 stick balusters. Principal rooms have chamfered span beams with stops. Single chamfered fireplace bressummer. Single purlin roof with re-used rafters. 6 early and mid C18 plank doors. 5 early C19 panelled doors. C19 fitted cupboard and pair of early C19 round headed glazed cupboard doors. This building was used as a school in the early C20.
