1845-6 [presumably contemporary with cottage to which it is attached. Likewise
not illustrated in view of "The Dairy, Swanbourne by Fredk. Mason, d. 1st December
1846.] Nodular flint of freak size, with galleting. Pulborough stone quoins,
plinth and dressings. Pyramidal slate roof. Wooden lantern with pyramidal slate
roof.
1 storey. Octagonal plan. South side has partly glazed double door in 4-centred
arch recessed into oblong panel. North, east and west sides have 1 mullion-and-
transom window with casements each. Diagonal sides have 1 transom window with
casements each. Eaves project far enough to make continuous verandah, taken on
wooden brackets which spring from moulded corbels, and which have drop finials
at their junction with eaves.
Octagonal lantern with 4-centred arched lancets on each side, 2-light on the cardinal
sides, 1-light on the diagonal sides. Roof is a replica in miniature of the main
roof, crowned with a lead cushion finial and ornamental bronze weather vane.
Portico, supported on joists running clear from dairy to adjacent cottage, links
the 2 buildings. Shallow wooden octopartite vaults with moulded ribs, carved
stiffleaf boss, and planked webs. Lead roof.
The Home Farmhouse, farm buildings, pumping house and bridge form a group together
with the retaining walls to the pools.
