9/38 Bentley House Farmhouse and attached granary

GV II

Farmhouse incorporating farm buildings. Late C18, incorporating late C17 farm- building with some late C19 alterations. Brick with tile roof, gable-end stacks. L-plan, C18 range extending to south-west, rear C17 part to north-west. South-east front: two storeys with attic lit by three gabled dormers; three windows: two 3-light casements flank a 2-light casement, all under segmental heads; ground floor: central entrance has a gabled C19 porch. The rear wing is partially incorporated into the house with a granary at the north-west end; it is of two storeys with a moulded stone cornice; the ground floor is of seven bays defined by square stone pillars, apparently originally open to the front (now infilled with brick). Function uncertain, perhaps a large cartshed.
