G.V. II
Mews row with screen and archway to Clarendon Place. C. 1836-40, probably designed by John Crake, in conjunction with his Hyde Park Gardens terraces. Stock brick, mainly painted, with stucco dressings, slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 windows wide north and south elevations. Recessed sash windows, some retaining glazing bars, under flat gauged arches, garage doors to mews (some altered as residences); majority of ground floor windows on south polite front blind and this elevation finished off with deep entablature and parapet (mutilated in part). No. 14A has a more elaborate mews elevation enclosing courtyard with screen wall and piers and with stucco entablature and blocking course. To Clarendon Place the end elevations of No. 1 and No. 48 are treated as blind screen walls with quoin pilasters and entablature carried over stuccoed carriage archway as formal architectural entrance to the mews.
