II*
Mill. 1832. Ashlar, stone slate roof. Five storeys. Elevation to north fronts Rochdale Canal and is of ten bays originally. The fifth bay has taking-in door to each floor over which is set pediment with band, cat-head and bullseye bearing date. Coped gable to right only. To left is added two bays of four storeys. Each bay has windows to each floor with plain stone surrounds, projecting sills glazed with small panes. Right hand return wall of four bays. Two bays of windows. Stair tower breaks forward a bay and is blind to its north and west face. Rear has added bay of windows in stair tower which carries above roof in brick to
form water tower.

Attached to rear is two storey engine house which has tall semi-circular arched window forming two-span roof with former office. Chimney has pitch faced stone to base, square on plan, with moulded cornice and tall circular tapering chimney with ringed cap.

This mill is of particular interest because it was steam driven from its inception at an early date. It is of some distinction, retains its fenestration and window glazing, and fronting the canal is prominent in the landscape.
