5/71 Ivies and 3 urns in - garden to south
GV II
House. Early to Mid-C19 but possibly incorporating some earlier material. Coursed squared and dressed sandstone; clay tile roof with shaped tile patterns, fleur-de-lys ridge tiles, and coped verges on kneelers, that to east with finial; coursed, squared and dressed stone ridge stack to east of centre and integral end stack to west. Vernacular revival style; main range to south and parallel rear range to north. 2 storey and attic; 3 windows, chamfered mullions and surrounds, patterned glazing bar windows, those to the ground floor have 3 lights, those to the first floor have 2 lights; panelled door to left of centre with cambvered and chamfered head, chamfered jambs and bracketed hood; gabled dormer to left of centre with 4- pane casement and coped verge on kneelers. East gable has a decorative lozenge light; East gable of rear range has a cambered doorway to the left and a fixed light patterned glazing bar window,the right under the same dripstone. Interior: Stopped and chamfered ceiling beams; inglenook fireplace; common rafter roof supported on single chamfered purlins. One of a number of buildings in Ellastone Parish of a similar date and style, probably erected by the Calwich Abbey Estate. 3 probably C18 inverted bell shape urns to front garden with concave bases, gadrooned bowls and enriched rims.
