3/145 Quorn Hunt Kennels, and stabling,
GV II
Hunt kennels and stabling. Dated 1905. Red brick and Welsh slate roof with brick ridge and end stacks. In English vernacular style. Central entrance block of 2 storeys of 5 3-light and 4-light casement windows. Central carriage entrance with rounded arch. A gable either side with ground floor canted bay. Gables and parapet over entrance are stone coped, the gables shouldered. Over entrance a stone tablet inscribed 'Q.H. 1905'. On the roof ridge above this an elaborate wood and lead clock tower. The square first stage has a clock face with Roman numerals. Over this is a balustrade with turned balusters and an open octagonal lantern with leaded roof, finial and wrought-iron weathervane. Extending to either side of central block then turning at right angles and extending to rear a range of 1 storey outbuildings. Between these and forming the fourth side of a quadrangle a 2 storey stable range with gable opposite the entrance arch. Here a canted bay with sash windows and 4-light casement over. To left of main quadrangle a series of 1 and 1½ storey kennel buildings, the exercise yards with iron railings. The whole, together with 3 cottages (q.v.) and house (q.v.), forms an impressive group.
