4/85 Leahall Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse: dated 1873 by John Douglas for the 1st Duke of Westminster.
Partly English garden wall bond orange brick, partly timber framed.
Red tile roof, 1 gable brick chimney with diamond stacks. 2-storey,
3-bay north front. Central bay has 2-storey gabled porch, open timber
framing below with 4-centred arched entrance with dated carved
bressumer above. 3-light wood mullioned window above with carved
tiebeam with Westminster monogram. End bays have brick mullioned
windows with a dentilated band at 1st floor. Timber framed upper
storey has 3-light wood mullioned windows in barge boarded and
finialled gabled half dormers. 2nd domestic range to the rear.
Interior: Simple plan about central hall. Staircase has reeded flat
balusters. Living room has white marble fireplace with large good
cast-iron grate on lions feet with Westminster arms on the fireback.
Attached range of outbuildings to rear not included in the item.
