STANHOPE BACK LANE (South side) NY 9939 Stanhope 34/150 Wall on north-east side of Castle garden, and gazebo attached GV II
Garden wall with gazebo attached. Early C19 wall with later C19 gazebo. Thinly rendered rubble wall with flat stone coping; gazebo rubble with rock-faced dressings, the north face with incised stucco rendering. High wall has segmental- headed carriage arch in west end, with voussoirs and alternate-block jambs containing boarded double doors; flat stone lintel over boarded door at right of arch. Gazebo near centre of wall: 2 storeys, one bay; Gothic style; alternate- block jambs and flat stone lintel to central boarded door; battlemented parapet; roof not visible. South elevation to garden has pierced stone first-floor balcony.
