Details
MARINE PARADE 1. 1357 (North Side) Nos 4 to 6 (consec) including front retaining wall SY 3492 1/170 II GV 2. 1840 circa; entrance floor raised above Marine Parade. Shown in old photographs as 3 cottages; original part to the centre of 2 storeys, 5 window bays; modern storey has recently been added above. Slate-hung front wall. On 1st floor, 5 2-light round headed windows with carved spandrels. On entrance floor, 4 sash windows with glazing bars intact. Doorway in 3rd bay from right hand end. Later C19 trellised iron porch which returns and then continues either side as a verandah. Projecting 3-storey wing of later C19 date at either end; slate hipped roofs; splayed oriels on 1st floor which is slate-hung; plate glass window on intermediate floor, and on ground floor entry from Marine Parade through segmental headed archways and up flights of steps behind. A retaining wall rising from ground level connects the entrances to the 2 side wings.
Nos 4 to 6 (consec) together with Nos 6A, 7, 8, 8A, 9, 11, 12 and Sundial form a group.
