Details
STANHOPE A689 (North side) NZ 03 NW Frosterley 21/99 Willow Green Farmhouse and byres attached GV II
Farmhouse and byres with lofts. Late C18 with alterations. Roughly coursed and squared sandstone with pecked quoins and tooled ashlar dressings, some of millstone grit; graduated stone-flagged roof with yellow brick chimneys. L-plan. 2-storey, 3-bay house. At right 2-storey byre of 3 wide bays, with one-storey, 2-bay projecting wing.
House at left has central C20 door in raised stone surround; renewed windows have flat stone lintels and slightly-projecting stone sills; ground-floor right window louvred. 2 corniced end chimneys have squat tapered square pots. Byres and lofts adjoining are set back and have plain stone surrounds to boarded doors, one blocked and with window inserted,and boarded loft doors above each door; flat stone lintels to glazed lights on ground floor; slit vents above. 2 loose boxes, in wing breaking forward, have Dutch doors and windows with glazing bars; low single-pitched roofs. Pent corrugated addition of one storey and one bay in angle between house and byre not of interest.
