5/5 The Manger P.H. (Formerly listed as The 14.7.55 Manger Inn) GV II
Public house, Late C15 with C16 and C17 alterations. 2 storeys. Timber-framed and rendered, with herringbone pargetting in panels. Plaintiled roofs. C19 and C20 small-pane casements. Half-glazed panelled C20 entrance doors. The C15 single cell core, probably a ground-floor hall with chamber above, has substantial unmounted framing; the open truss has a square crown-post with arch-bracing to the collar-purlin and rising braces from the tie-beam; the closed truss has rising braces up to the crown-stud. An early C16 2-bay addition at the south end has a clasped purlin roof and C16 open fireplace at rear. A single-cell 2 storey wing with attics added to rear C17, and another C17 or early C18 extension at the north end. Referred to as "Bradfield Manger" in will of Thos. Roberson, 16 July 1660.
