SS9646 COURT GREEN 900-1/3/28 (North side) 28/10/76 Nos.1 AND 2 including outbuilding to the left and garden wall (Formerly Listed as: COURT GREEN (North side) Nos.1 AND 2 including outbuilding to left)

2 cottages and outbuilding. Late C17/early C18; No.1 altered and refronted in mid C19. Incised render to No.1 to the right, painted rubblestone to No.2, continuous slate roof including outbuilding with brick stacks to right gable end, forward slope of party wall and ridge to left of No.2. No.1 is 2-unit plan, No.2 is one-unit plan; both with outshut. 2 storeys; No.1 is 3-window range, No.2 is one-window range. Upper windows are at eaves level. No.1 has painted stone long/short rusticated quoins, that to the right, on the corner, is chamfered off to the ground floor. The C19 right-of-centre halved planked door under a slate lean-to porch on brackets has a C17 low 4-light mullioned window to the right and a blank wall toward the corner implying a former open fire, to the left is a C19 three-light window. C19 two- and three-light casement windows at eaves level, all with 3 panes to each leaf. The rear outshut has a repositioned C17 ovolo-moulded mullioned window and a brick stack to the rear. INTERIOR: stop-chamfered beams to both ground-floor rooms. The room to the left has a former open fire and an early C18 semicircular alcove with fretted shelves. The room to the right has a spiral staircase to the left of a former open fire. Roof not seen. No.2 has a planked door and similar porch to No.1 to the right and a C17 four-light mullioned window with C20 leaded panes over a window of similar proportions but of 3 lights, probably C19: interior not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: to the left of No.2 the full-height outbuilding continues for approx 12m with a high shallow segmental arch to a carriage entrance and double planked doors. Attached to the rear of No.1 a rubblestone wall approx 2m high and 20m long curves to enclose the back gardens.
