Pair of town houses, now office and house. c.1830, altered. Red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and graduated slate roof. Double-depth plan. Two storeys with basements and attics, 3+3 bays; ashlar basement treated as a plinth, 1st-floor sill-band, plain frieze and moulded cornice. No.1 has the doorway to the left, up 2 steps, with a doorcase of engaged Tuscan columns with plain frieze and moulded cornice, plain jambs with imposts, and a glazed and panelled door with elliptical fanlight, and to the left of this a lobby doorway with plain surround, board door and overlight; No.2 has a very wide elliptical-arched doorway to the right (up 3 steps), with gauged brick head, and a set-in tripartite doorcase with shafted jambs and moulded lintel, panelled door and narrow side windows, all under a fanlight with radiating leaded glazing. Each has two 4-pane sashes at ground floor and 3 above, all with raised sills and wedge lintels. Basement areas protected by cast-iron railings with curvilinear balusters, No.2 with a gate in the returned end opening onto steps. Chimneys in front and behind the ridge at the junction and at the right-hand gable; small inserted dormer at No.2. Rear: 3-storeyed, with basements at ground level; No.1 has 2-storey canted bay window, 2 inserted glazed doors at basement level, sashed windows above; No.2 has French windows at basement levels, altered windows at 1st floor (uPVC). INTERIORS: No.2 has cross-vaulted entrance hall, panelled architraves to doors, fine plaster cornices in drawing room and parlour, and built-in cupboards in dining room with Gothick traceried doors; both have full basement suites, both modernised but No.1 with former kitchen retaining iron cooking range and washing boiler, and No.2 with dumb-waiter and butler's pantry.
