II
House, formerly divided into 2 houses. Late C17 with additions and C19 alterations. Roughcast rubble with slate roof. 2 storeys. South-west facade, facing garden, has C20 casement windows in painted stone surrounds. Main house of 2 bays with central glazed porch. To the left is a bay which is probably an addition, with a doorway to its right with plain stone surround. Within the glazed porch is a door surround with the moulding of the jambs continuing upwards to form a pattern on the lintel, which is inscribed: 'RCM 1687'. Rear elevation, facing Thorpe Avenue, has some C17 mullioned windows with rebated and chamfered surrounds remaining in main part of the house. On the ground floor they are of 1, 2, and 3 lights. On the 1st floor is one of a single light. Interior: main fireplace altered and partition wall removed. Staircase has straight flight with closed string and turned balusters which appear to be of c1700. Right-hand front room contains original parlour fireplace with architrave moulding, keystone, mantel, and stylised flower and plant motifs.
