Two shops. c1880s/90s. Flemish-bond brick with stone bands and dressings; plain tile hipped roof with terra-cotta finials; ornamental brickwork and projecting terracotta dragons to the corners of a left-of-centre ridge stack. Double-depth plan. Queen Anne style. 3 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range. 2 forward-facing gables with deep modillioned eaves and resting on a similar cornice each have an oculus in the apex. Stone bands at lintel level and string-courses at cill level. The second floor has two 3-light stone mullioned and transomed windows with 4 small panes to the tops, under wide moulded segmental arches with carved blocking and plain keystones dying into the cornice. These flank a central single-light window with 6 small panes above the transom. The first floor has a similar window to the centre flanked by 2-light canted bays with stone mullions and transoms, carved corbelling below and cornices with blocking courses above. The C20 shopfronts are flanked by pilasters with rusticated blocking topped by urn finials on foliate panelled blocks. INTERIORS not inspected. Included for group value.
