14.3.75 G.V. II

House. Now Assessment Centre. Probably 1860s by Waterhouse. Brick with blue brick banding and stone dressings, slate roof with bands of hexagonal slates. 2 storeys with basement and attic, 8 bays, 2nd, 4th and 6th to 8th bays project under gables. Most windows have transoms. Ground floor has 3-light window to 1st bay. 3rd bay has angle buttresses and 2-light pointed traceried window. 4th bay has 3-light stair window. 6th to 8th bays have sashes, no glazing bars, those to 5th bay are paired. 1st floor has 1st bay cross window and 3rd bay triangular oriel with stone roof and flanking lights. 7th bay has end stack corbelled out over ground floor and with 1st floor and attic windows. 5th bay has gabled roof dormer. Entrance to right of 3rd bay window. Tall cross- axial stacks. C20 extension to right of no special interest.
