GV II
House, now 2 dwellings. Mid C18. Red Flemish-bond brickwork
and gabled concrete plain tile roof. 2 storeys, attics and
cellars. 2 hipped dormers behind plain parapet and this and
upper part of frontage rebuilt. Very small central ridgeline
stack. First floor has 5 flush double-hung sash windows with
small panes, rubbed brick arches and recessed aprons. Raised
string bands below parapet and between floors. Ground floor
has 4 flush similar double-hung sashes and off-centre
pedimented doorcase within fluted Doric pilasters, pulvinated
frieze and 2 stone steps. Door is slightly recessed with
panelled flanks and has 6 panels, the top 2 glazed. Former
yard entrance now door to No.16A has segmental brick arch.
High black plinth with rectangular glazed cellar lights, one
with cast-iron decorative grille.
INTERIOR: substantial oak spine beams and bridging joists
forming central stack bay. Cellar has segmental-arched
recesses and bridging joists and joists chamfered with lamb's
tongue stops. Probably all of one build.
