Twelve terraced houses. 1828-1829; C19 shopfronts (altered C20) to nos. 44-52 and 66. By William Chadwell Mylne, Surveyor for the New River Estate. Yellow stock brick set in Flemish bond with banded stucco ground-floor to nos. 54-64, wooden shopfronts to others and stucco dressings; roofs obscured, party-wall brick stacks. Ground-floor shop and side-hall entrance plan leading to upper floors to nos. 44-52 and 66. Side-hall entrance plan to others. Three storeys with basement; 2 windows each with 2 windows to right (no. 44) and left (no. 66) hand return walls to Inglebert and River Streets. Low steps rise to round-arched entrance to nos. 44 & 54-66 (nos. 44 & 66 with side entrance in return wall): architraved doorway with console brackets to panelled pilaster jambs carrying corniced-head, fanlight (nos. 54 & 58-64 patterned) and original panelled door to nos. 44, 56, 60, 64, 66. 6/6 round-arched architraved sashes to nos. 54-64 ground-floor. Nos. 44-52 & 66 shopfront: those of nos. 50 and 52 are 3 bays wide and in most original condition, and essentially identical, with house door to outer bay, shop door to middle bay and bay window to inner bay; pilasters carry curved fascia and cornice. Other shopfronts extensively altered C20 although no. 66 with original fascia, cornice and panelled doors. Gauged-brick flat arches with predominantly 6/6 sashes to upper floors; 1st floor stucco sill band beneath full-length sashes set in arched brick recesses linked by stucco impost band with individual cast-iron balconies to nos. 54-64 with Vitruvian scroll and anthemion pattern to railings. Some rebuilding to upper floors. Plain brick parapet with brick string course and stone coping. Attached cast-iron railings with urn finials to nos. 54-64.
