Details
NEWBY WISKE WARLABY ROAD SE 38 NE (west side) 3/33 Sowber Gate Farmhouse II Farmhouse. Mid to late C18, with early C20 additions and alterations. Red brick, pantile roof. Main block: 3 storeys, 6 bays; C20 extension set back to left. Half-glazed C20 door to extension. Main block: three C20 canted bay windows with stone sills, sashes with glazing bars, friezes and cornices. Windows to first and second floors are sashes with glazing bars with a wide space between bay 2 and 3, and bays 4 and 5. All have stone sills and flat brick arches. Dentilled eaves band. Roof hipped. 2 stacks to ridge. Interior: dogleg staircase with good turned balusters, round- headed stair window with intersecting tracery. Upstairs, a mid C18 fireplace with frieze and cornice, late C18 grate.
