GV II
House. C18 front, altered, to older building, probably of C17 date. Chequer pattern brick, formerly colourwashed, Old tile roof, hipped at right hand end, with 2 gabled dormers. Large central brick chimney with black brick quoins and shafts; parapet, moulded wood cornice. 2-storeys and attic, first floor band. Central part has two 3-light casements to ground floor with brick arches, old leaded glazing. Half-glazed double doors with pediment hood on cut brackets. Two 4-light mullioned and transomed casements to first floor, with 2-light window above door. One bay extension on left hand. Lower extension on right hand, rendered, with doorway at junction having tall 6-panel door with radiating and wreathed lead fan-light in panelled reveal, Doric portico of 2 columns, 2 pilasters and entablature with dentil cornice. Large modern canted bay window on right. Flank elevation with 2 blank arches containing triple sash windows with panelled mullions and cornice. Garden elevation has canted bay on left with 3 double-wing sash windows, the central one having panels below the cill. Interior: front right-hand room has fine late C18 carved wood chimney piece, moulded plaster cornice, panelled doors. RCHM I p.309 MON.35.
