Details

BENENDEN TQ83SW STANDEN STREET 1350-0/3/104 (East side) 20/06/67 Springhill II House. c.1820 front with probable C18 core. Ground floor red brick with grey headers, 1st floor tile hung. Hipped old tiled roof with brick chimneystack to right hand side. 2 storeys; 3 windows. Central 12 paned sash and end 16-pane sashes with blind boxes to ground floor windows. Central doorcase with flat wooden hood, paterae and pilasters. Panelled reveals, 6 panelled door and rectangular fanlight. C20 extension to left in matching style. Right hand side has some C18 brick-work. Rear has external brick stack and original leaded light casement. Attached rear wing was originally one storey but was extended to 2 storeys in C20. The interior has some C18 beams, an early C19 staircase with scrolled tread ends, column newel and fireplaces of the period. Some plank doors. C16 reused floorboards.
