ST4409 CHURCH STREET 876-1/7/38 (North side) 06/09/74 No.16 and attached gates

GV II

House. Dated 1881. Ham Hill stone ashlar to ground-floor, pilasters, cill bands and eaves cornice, dressed coursed limestone rubble to the upper floors and brick to the rest. Slate roof with brick stacks, truncated to the right. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys; 3-window range. All windows are 2/2-pane sashes under segmental arches, that to the ground-floor left is tripartite; to the right is a carriageway opening with gates. The ground-floor has banded rustication with a moulded cill band above. The door, to the right return under the carriage arch, is 4-panels. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: heavy double cast-iron gates to the carriageway, have spikes with scroll supports to the tops and a trellis of circles, lattice and spikes to the lower half. Included for group value.
