Cottages and smithy. Probably C17, with C19 alterations. Timber-frame with brick infill; rubble; C19 plain tile roof; brick end stacks, and stacks to rear; No.16 has front corner stack with buttressed smithy stack. 3-unit plan, with wagon shed and passage to rear. Single storey and attic; 4-window range: No.16: brick and rubble to ground floor, timber-frame with brick infill over; plank shutters in altered opening; mullion window over. Central C20 part-glazed door, with small light over, and to right, canted bow with plain tiled pentice roof; mullion window with casement and simple hood. All windows have metal lattice glazing. Passage has timber plate over, with arched braces and later central post. Rear: single-storey brick wing with end stack; C20 plank door; casements in altered opening; mullion window over. Roof dormers with 2-light lattice glazed casements, over outshut with catslide roof. No.17: rubble to ground floor with some brick, and brick over; central C19 plank door in C20 weather-boarded porch; flanked by 2-light casements; small staircase light over; 2 gable dormers with 2-light casements. Rear has brick stack, and rubble wing with brick end stack.
