3 pairs of linked houses. 1852. By Pope, Bindon and Clark. Limestone ashlar, party wall stacks, roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Neoclassical style. Each of 2 storeys and basement; 2-window range. Each has flanking entrance blocks linked together and recessed to form a balcony above the ground floor, with shallow pedimented sections broken forward to the middle with canted bays; banded ground-floor to a frieze, bracketed cornice and a tall parapet. Doorways have open Ionic porches with entablatures and balustrades, to semicircular-arched doorways with C20 glazing and doors. 3-light bays with balustrades, first-floor windows have architraves, eared to the middle with floating cornices; some 6/6-pane sashes. At the left end is a single-storey block with a parapet and 6/6-pane sash. INTERIOR: entrance halls with side dogleg stairs, cornices, shutters and panelled doors. An unusual form of semi-detached terrace not found elsewhere in the city. (Gomme A, Jenner M and Little B: Bristol, An Architectural History: Bristol: 1979-: 256).
