GV II
House. c1850. Limestone ashlar with gable stacks and a slate mansard roof. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys and attic; 4-window range. In 3 sections divided by rusticated pilasters to a cornice, and parapet with balustrades over the windows. Windows with architraves and cornices, blind to the ground-floor, narrower to the left, and tripartite over the right-hand archway, have plate sashes with margin panes. A right-hand elliptical carriage archway has keys with a relief of Victoria, and imposts. Attic sliding sashes. C19 shop front beneath the arch has semicircular-arched windows. Paired entrances in the rear have narrow overlights and 4-panel doors, and 5 voussoir heads to 6/6-pane sashes. INTERIOR: largely modernised; dogleg stair with stick balusters, and attic fireplaces with surrounds and cast-iron baskets. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached wrought-iron railings to the side of the NW corner of the archway.
