ST67SW STRETFORD ROAD, St George 901-1/56/1845 (South side) 04/03/77 Church Hall of the Church of St Ambrose

GV II

Church hall. 1907 and c1912. By WV and AR Gough. Snecked red Pennant with limestone dressings, tile roof. 3 linked units, open plan. Single storey; 3-window range. Main hall with a large N window facing the road, 4-centred arch with Perpendicular tracery; clasping rubble pilasters with ashlar panels at the top. Striped rubble and ashlar above the window, moulded gable coping, scrolled at the bottom and a cross at the top. Segmental-arched doorway in the left return, with a shield and monogram of St Ambrose above. Smaller side block to the left with a door beneath an Arts and Crafts parapet with ball finials, and a dormer window with plain 3-light casement. At the rear is a second hall dated 1907, now attached, with an ashlar porch with scrolled, stepped gables, a chamfered stepped window behind and raised kneelers and apex stone to the gable. INTERIOR not inspected.
