Pair of attached houses. c1780. Stucco and render with
limestone dressings, party wall stacks and a slate roof.
Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. Each of 3 storeys,
attic and basement; 2-window range. A near-symmetrical pair
have pilaster strips to a cornice and parapet; C19 outer
banded ashlar porches have chamfered corners and cornices,
semicircular-arched doorcases with raised surrounds with
imposts, 5-pane metal fanlight to No.23, plate-glass to No.22,
6-panel doors with flush bottom panels, and
semicircular-arched windows to the side. 6/6-pane sashes, with
first-floor French windows to No.23 and 8/8-pane sashes to
No.22; 2 dormers to No.23 and 1 to No.22. First-floor balcony
has cast-iron brackets and wrought-iron railings with pointed
arches and quatrefoils. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY
FEATURES: attached wrought-iron spear-headed basement area
gates and railings.
