Terrace of 8 houses. c1842. Limestone ashlar with party wall stacks, roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Each of 3 storeys, attic and basement; 2-window range. Terrace divided by recessed party walls, a rusticated ground floor to a moulded string, frieze with panelled blocks and cornice, and coped attic. Left-hand moulded semicircular-arched doorways with plate-glass fanlights and 2-panel doors, No.28 has a 2-storey entrance block set back on the end with a teardrop fanlight. Single tripartite ground-floor windows, and plate-glass sashes. First-floor tented balconies with cast-iron railings and anthemia. Nos 22-26 remodelled into a block of flats c1900, a symmetrical elevation with a central full-height stair block, fluted consoles with wreaths to a doorway beneath a panel inscribed Carlton Mansions, to a 2-leaf door. Upper windows in an enveloping architrave with a swagged panel between, set in a recess, to 6/6-pane sashes. 2 ground-floor windows each side, with narrow 9/9-pane sashes above, 6/6-panes to the attic.
