GV II
House, now office. c1790, altered mid C19 and C20. Limestone ashlar and render with a copper-clad roof. Double-depth plan. Mid Georgian style. 2 storeys, double attic and basement; 9-window range. Severely extended: symmetrical garden front has a 1:2:1 ashlar block and flanking C19 extensions, with pedimented 2-window centre broken forward with rusticated quoins. Rusticated basement, first-floor sill band and cornice, and two C20 attic storeys. Segmental-arched basement windows, enlarged ground-floor windows with 2/2-pane horned sashes, 6/6-pane sashes above. Rear elevation has 3 windows with a pedimented centre, and a projecting porch with a rusticated ashlar front, semicircular-arched doorway, fanlight and 6-panel door. INTERIOR: entrance stair hall with a right-hand open-well stair with column-on-vase balusters, 3 per tread, a ramped, moulded rail to a wide curtail and column newel, and brackets with triglyphs; niche beside the doorway with moulded archivolt and key; C19 decoration to the front rooms with elliptical arches and heavy cornice.
