Terrace of 4 houses, now part of hotel and offices. Left-hand house c1759, right-hand threesome c1760, possibly by George Tully; converted c1990. Brick with limestone dressings, pantile hipped roof to the left, slate mansard to the right and hipped at the end. Double-depth plan. Mid Georgian style. Each of 3 storeys and basement; 2-window range. Linked by a continuous moulded coping, with rusticated quoins and strings to the left-hand house, and pilasters strips to the right-hand three. 2 styles: the earlier left-hand house has a doorway with a segmental-arched architrave with moulded brackets to a segmental pediment, plate-glass overlight and 6-panel door; segmental rubbed brick arches with moulded architraves, to 6/9-pane sashes. The right-hand 3 have left-hand doorways with bracketed pediments and architraves to plate-glass overlights and 6-panel doors; segmental-arched heads with 5 stepped voussoirs to 6/6-pane horned sashes. The right-hand return is a symmetrical 3-window range, with a doorway as the front. INTERIOR not inspected, but reported to have been completely altered c1990. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached front area walls and spear-headed railings.
