GV II

House, now part of university hall of residence. Late C18. Render with limestone dressings, lateral stacks and a slate hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. 3 storeys and basement; 4-window range. Parapeted front with a late C19 single-storey ashlar pedimented porch with semicircular-arched side doorway and windows. 6/6-pane sashes, 3/6 panes to the second storey. Rear elevation has a central full-height canted bay to a moulded coping, and attic storey set back. 4/4-pane sashes in flush boxes, outer attic windows have 2/4-pane sashes, inner ones are paired 8/8-pane sashes. INTERIOR: fully panelled rear central room with marble fireplace, the stair hall divided by an elliptical arch with a rear dogleg stair with uncut string, column balusters and square newels, wainscot, to a first-floor hall with an elliptical arch with fluted pilasters. Now incorporated into a single building with Clifton Hill House (qv), with a mid C19 link, and mid C20 extension to the S.
