GV II

Terrace of 5 houses. 1816-17. Limestone ashlar with brick stack and pantile mansard roof. Double-depth plan. Each of 3 storeys, basement and attic; 1-window range. Each house has pilasters, cornice and parapet, a rusticated ground floor, and steps up to right-hand doorways with Doric porticos and 6-panel doors; windows with 8/8-pane sashes and dormers. INTERIOR not inspected. HISTORICAL NOTE: the plots were laid out by James Foster in 1816. No.9 was for a time the home of Sir Henry Irving and Ellen Terry, and EW Godwin.
