SO8933 RED LANE 859-1/5/328 (East side) 27/07/73 Boundary wall adjacent to gazebo at rear of No.51 High Street (Formerly Listed as: HIGH STREET (West side) Garden wall at rear and west of No.51, along Red Lane)

GV II

Boundary wall, possibly remains of former quay wall. C14 or C15, with C18 additions. Large weathered sandstone blocks, short run of steep weathered coping to one section, 3 buttresses; wall approx 1.6m high, but raised in C18 brickwork. Runs from underneath front wall of gazebo (qv) for approx 16m to junction with W end of Clark's Alley. Tewkesbury did not have a defensive town wall, and it seems likely that this section of wall was the boundary to the Avon or Mill Avon waterway.
