SX7570 ROBOROUGH LANE 849-1/9/153 (West side) Reservoir about 130m N of East Street

GV II

Reservoir, formerly carrying part of town water supply. dated 1791. Consists of a stone rubble wall about 3m high with a raised band at the top. It has 2 round-arched openings formed of squared granite blocks; both have raised keystones, that to left with incised date 1791. Plain imposts continued across the openings, apparently in concrete, the heads of the arches being infilled with stone rubble. Below the imposts are plain iron doors; inside there are pillared, brick-lined chambers at bottom of flight of steps. The garden of Woodstock, an unlisted house dated 1931, extends on top of the reservoir.
