Textiles warehouse, now restaurant, offices, etc. Said to be 1876, by Clegg and Knowles; altered. Sandstone ashlar at ground floor (painted white), otherwise red brick in Flemish bond with sandstone dressings (roof concealed by parapet). Deep rectangular plan, extending back to St James Street, with loading at rear. Basement and 4 storeys, 3+3 windows, with punched ashlar plinth, sill- and head-bands to upper floors,and parapet with unusual brick-corbelled blind arcade. The ground floor, treated as a 3+3-bay arcade of segmental-headed arches with moulded imposts, has tall doorway in the outer bays and altered windows in the others; the upper floors have tripled sashed windows with stone sills and heads, brick corbelling to the jambs. Rear: unusual open-topped full-height loading slots with the parapet carried across. Interior not inspected. Part of a significant group of buildings. Included for group value.
