Freemasons' Hall, subsequently hotel. 1863, by W.Mangnall; converted to hotel 1929. Ashlar (roof concealed). Rectangular plan. Eclectic style. Four storeys over cellars, a symmetrical 5-bay facade (1:2:2:2:1 windows), with channelled rustication at ground floor, pilastrades with cornices to 1st and 2nd floors, bracketed cornice to 3rd floor, and parapet with central pediment. the ground floor has round-headed openings, a central doorway with doorcase of engaged columns with triglyph frieze and mutule cornice, outer doorways with rusticated surrounds and side windows, and windows of 2 round-headed lights with central colonnettes and roundels; the 1st and 2nd floors have similar windows in the 3 centre bays, with engaged marble columns between them, and recessed 1-light windows in the outer bays set in Ionic pilastrades (those at 2nd floor with niches containing statues); the top floor has square windows with panelled pilasters. Pediment with rich carving,surmounted by statue of female figure with children. Interior not inspected. History: converted to hotel when Masonic Temple, Bridge Street was built (1929).
