GV II
Barn, early C19 eyecatcher folly with mid C19 courtyard of low stalls and cartsheds attached. Rubble stone with part stone slate roof. Barn has Gothic treatment to north end and west side, north end has stepped gable to large cross finial, centre blank pointed arch with raised imposts and two buttresses within arch, up to impost height. Gable has Y-traceried blank panel. Each side are large canted three-sided false towers, up to base of gable, with side buttresses, flat parapets and loops. West side has large blank pointed arches and centre coped gabled cart entry with ogee- pointed opening and Y-traceried blank panel in gable. Ogee-arch is obscured by later lean-to. High gabled east entry with lean-to each side. 6-bay king-post and angle strut roof. Single storey ranges enclose a large yard to east, the east range of half length. Courtyard is largely infilled with C20 buildings, obscuring east side of barn and range of outbuildings attached to north. Barn is said to have been a folly built for the Badminton estate.
