Details
ZEALS LOWER ZEALS ST 73 SE (west side) 6/193 Barn group at Manor Farm GV II Three barns. Early C18 to early C19. Rubble stone, north barn with timber-frame clad in weatherboarding, half-hipped tiled roofs. L-plan group, each barn of 7 bays. Barn on east-west axis to north has two half-hipped porches with C20 concrete block jambs on north side, gabled porch to south side with double planked doors to left; 7-bay queen-post roof with straight bracing between main posts and tie-beam; probably early C19. Of the two rubble stone barns attached to south on north-south axis, the north one is probably earlier. Gabled porch on west side, porch with raking roof to east slit vents to sides and north gable end, aisle on west side with catslide roof, rubble stone internal partition between aisle and main part, collar and tie-beam roof trusses with tension bracing between jowled main posts and tie-beam. C18 barn attached to south has opposing hipped porches with double planked doors, 7- bay roof with collar and tie-beam trusses.
