5/75 Bond's Farmhouse -

- II

Farmhouse. Late C16. 2 storeys and attics; basic 2-cell lobby-entrance plan, with a small C20 wing added on the west side. Timber-framed and rendered; south gable end faced in colour-washed brick; clay pantiles. The internal chimney-stack has a plain red brick shaft. Various 2-light and 3-light casement windows. The original lobby-entrance door is blocked. Frame, of good, plain timbering, in 4 bays, including the chimney-bay. Full height studs; short stud-to-stud arched braces in the long walls. Various blocked original windows, one on the upper floor of 6 lights, with damaged diamond mullions in situ. The upper ceilings, one of which is exposed, are original. The chimney-stack has 2 back-to-back hearths on each floor, one on the ground floor with a plain timber lintel. A newel stair beside the stack leads to the first floor and attic. The roof has cambered collars and one row of unstepped butt purlins.
