DEBENHAM GRACECHURCH STREET TM 16 SE 6/74 No.15 - GV II

House, latterly sub-divided into 2. Late C16 with indications of earlier work to right. Timber framed and plastered, the first floor studding exposed at the front. Pantiled roof. 2 storeys. Upper floor jettied to street with exposed joist-ends. Small unjettied section to right is of earlier date. 2 windows, C18 first floor 3-light casements with square-leaded glazing. These windows are in the original openings. Mid C20 mullion and transom casements to ground floor. 2 mid C20 doors. C19 stack on outside of right gable end of main block. Interior. Ground floor considerably altered with little of the structure visible. Plain heavy studding on upper floor, the frame in 2 bays. Tie beams with ogee stop-chamfers. To right is a fragment of earlier work, the wallplate at a much lower level. Heavy tie beam braces at left gable end are part of adjacent earlier range (qv. Item 6/73). Roof has 2 rows of butt purlins.
