CASTLE COMBE THE HILL ST 8477 (west side) 6/98 Castle House (formerly listed as Premises 15yds south of Upper Manor or Dower House 9.12.82 (Hammonds Bakery))
GV II
House, dated 1672, rubble stone with stone tiled roof and ashlar end wall stacks. Two-and-a-half storeys, 2-window range. Flush quoins. Ovolo-moulded recessed stone mullion windows with hoodmoulds and relieving arches over, 2-light to attic, 3-light to first and ground floors. North end has single light attic window and timber first floor window. Parallel rear range with timber windows to north end ground floor and attic. South end wall has 2-light ground floor and single light first floor stone mullion windows with hoods and relieving arches. Short rear wing with 2- light timber window over C20 stone tiled porch with inserted C17 oak doorcase with plank door. Datestone on front wall N.E.1672. Leaded lights throughout, some iron opening lights.
