PETTISTREE WALNUTS LANE TM 25 NE (West side) 5/127 Church Cottage 15/8/69 (formerly listed as Nos 1 and 2 Church Cottages) GV II

House, formerly divided into 2 cottages but now restored. C16. Timber framed with colourwashed render and thatched roof. Single storey and attic. Entrance front: two C20 boarded doors at right of centre and far left. To right of each of these is a 3-light C20 casement. The first floor has two eyebrow dormers each having a 2-light casement. To the ridge at right of centre is a rebuilt stack of C20 brick. Right hand end: hipped roof with ground floor 3-light metal-framed window and a similar first floor window. Arched braces connect to the projecting wall plates at either side supporting the jettied half-hip. Left hand gable end: 4-light C20 metal-framed ground floor window and a 3-light similar window to the first floor. Rear: at left a C20 extension with ½-hipped roof. Interior: massive chamfered ceiling beams to the ground floor interior and chamfered joists. Jowled wall posts and close-studded walling with arched braces. One further similar ground floor room.
