EYNSHAM THE SQUARE SP4309 (South side) 14/180 Group of 3 chest tombs approx. 24m. S of chancel of Church of St. Leonard

GV II

3 chest tombs. Early C19. Limestone Central tapered sarcophagus-type tomb commemorates Joseph Bowerman (died 1813) and family. Chest tomb to north: moulded plinth and cornice, and scribed fluting to splayed corners; main panel has tapered inscription panel with carved spandrels. Chest tomb to south: moulded plinth, cornice and capping; fluted pilasters flank scribed inscription panels; nowy-headed end panels.
